| Achievements |
During its relatively short
period of existence, APEPDCL has many noteworthy achievements
to its credit. Some of them are: |
Improving
Transmission System Control |
Losses during
Transmission and Distribution of power have been significantly
reduced over the years by putting in efforts to improve
sub-transmission and distribution systems. Distribution losses
have been lowered to 12.95% since the inception of the
DISCOM. |
Strengthening
Transmission & Distribution Network
|
A stretch of 4,964 Km
of 33 KV lines and 30,053 Km of 11 KV lines were laid as part
of several initiatives taken to improve the sub-transmission
and distribution network. An option for agricultural consumers
to have joint distribution transformers in cases where two or
more tube wells are operating close to each other
has also been made available under the HVDS
scheme. |
Improved Sales and
better Revenue Control |
There has been
a consistent increase in metered power sales from 60.04%
in the year 1999-2000 to 70.86% in the year 2005-06.
During 2005-06, APEPDCL took several initiatives to improve
its performance. Revenue collection moved up to Rs.1897
crores in the financial year 2005-06 from Rs.1170 crores in
the year 2000. In absolute terms, the revenue rose from Rs
974.12 crores during the year 2000 to Rs 1911.60 crores in the
year 2005-06. |
Profitability |
APEPDCL has made a
Profit of Rs. 18.90 crores during the year
2005-06. |
A Role
Model |
-
APEPDCL has been featured in Business World Magazine in a list of upcoming power
utility companies. It was ranked 165 in the listing of
top 500 companies in the Indian power sector.
-
In the Industry-wise ranking
(power sector), APEPDCL has been ranked 21 out of 30
companies engaged in generation, transmission and
distribution of power. APEPDCL also bagged the 8th position
amongst the distribution companies in India.
APEPDCL is
the only DISCOM to record a surplus in its financial
results. Visakhapatnam circle was adjudged the best circle
in the 'Performance Category' by the State Government,
recently.
-
Segregation of
non-agricultural services from the agricultural feeders
which is the brain child of APEPDCL, has paved way for
providing 24-hour power supply for lighting purposes. This
move has aided in quality power supply during night hours
without any interruptions in the rural sector.
-
Small capacity distribution
transformers of 15 KVA, 25 KVA, 40 KVA and 63 KVA capacity
were installed to bring down the Low Transmission (LT)
losses and improve voltage so as to get optimum returns on
investments.
|
Promoting Social
Causes |
-
APEPDCL has been at the
forefront in social welfare activities. It has taken up
measures to ensure empowerment of women in the district and
town levels by engaging with welfare associations such as
DWCRA and Chaitanya Sravanthi by employing women for
the collection of electricity bills.
-
A study on subsidy delivery
mechanism in agriculture is being undertaken by a Lok
Satta task force in East and West Godavari districts as a
pilot programme.
|
